How to feed multible Projects Plans into an overall Project Plan

how can I feed multiple other projects into my main project plan, and how can I keep the sub plans independent of my main project plan while allowing me to always get a latest version/update from the sub plans feeding into the main plan?

RE: How to feed multiple Projects Plans into an overall Project

Hi Jean-Kristin thanks for your question.

One approach to this is to create a new project file - this will become the Master Project file. From the menu bar choose Insert > Project... and choose the first of the sub projects you wish to include in the combined view. Repeat the process to pick up all the sub files you want to monitor.

Save your master project file. Now any changes you make in the master project will reflect back in the sub projects and vice-versa. Individuals can still work on their sub projects without having to open the combined master view.

I hope this helps - do let us know if you have any further questions.

Kind regards,

Andrew

MS Project tip:

Compare Work and Duration

Duration is the timescale within which a task is done; Work is the specific time element used. For example, 3 days work in a duration of 2 weeks. To compare, add the Work field into the Entry table by right clicking a column heading to Add Field.
