Project Overview

Hi,

I'm trying to create a one page overview of all the projects (summaries) to put on a slide and when I go to Reports-> Project overview I get Late Tasks which is useful but I was wondering if you can also see listed Summary and then late task under that summary as sometimes you have a lot of late tasks but not sure to what project (summary) they belong to. Is it possible to have that under Project Overview?

RE: Project Overview

Hi Tatjana,

Thank you for your question. Just to be clear, is the report based on one single project with summaries, or on multiple projects brought into a master file as subprojects?

Kind regards

RE: Project Overview

Hi Marius,

Well, we record multiple projects and put each project as summary in one MS Project, hence the question.

RE: Project Overview

Hi Tatjana,

When you click in the Late Tasks table in the report, the Field List appears to the right. In this field list, scroll down to the 'Other Fields' option in the 'Select Fields' pane. Under 'Other Fields', scroll down and select 'Project'.

A new Project column will appear in your table, showing which project summary each late task belongs to.

You can rearrange the columns of the table by dragging the items in the box below the 'Select Fields' box.

I hope this helps.

Kind regards
Marius

MS Project tip:

Set default task type - Project 2010

a. In Project, click on the File tab
b. Select Options from left hand side
c. Click on Schedule to set the scheduling options
d. Set the Default Task type box to your chosen option
i. Generally if you plan/estimate your projects using durations you should use fixed duration, and untick the box New tasks are effort driven, if you plan/estimate with person hours use fixed work, or for plans estimated with the proportion of resources time use fixed units, and untick the box New tasks are effort driven)
e. Click OK to apply your changes
