Microsoft Project Training Courses - Build on Your Existing Skills
Sat 5th July 2008
Project managers can use Microsoft Project software to perform many useful tasks. These include creation and modification of projects, assignment of resources including employees, tracking progress of tasks, production of reports and determination of project deadlines.
It is, however, important to realise that Microsoft Project is not only used by project managers. Resource managers, team members, IT staff and administrators may come into contact with Microsoft Project during the course of their working day. It is therefore important that all individuals are familiar with all the features that this software has to offer and this is why training is so important.
Microsoft Project is not only used by large organisations. It is also suitable for use by individuals managing their own project, such as those setting up a new business with only one employee - themselves.
New users of Microsoft Project need to realise that this software is not like other Office products despite having similar design features. It is very useful to have a background understanding of the principles of project management and the terminology used in this field. Once you start using the software, things do become easier. This is because, as with anything, the more familiar you become with a particular process, the easier it becomes.
Self-taught users tend to become more efficient at using the software until they reach a plateau. It is at this point that training is invaluable as it allows the user to unlock the potential of Microsoft Project. On the other hand, much time could have been saved if the self-taught user had started off by following a structured training program rather than relying on trial and error approach for a successful outcome.
To reassure people new to Microsoft Project, it is worth pointing out that in addition to technical know-how a little common sense is invaluable when it comes to managing projects. It is important to be realistic and to be sure that your plan reflects the real world.
This means that whatever level you are starting from you already possess a key skill for using Microsoft Project in an effective manner. Microsoft project training courses allow you to proceed to the next level.
