Hello Keith
Thank you for your question and welcome to the forum.
To lock a cell in a formula (or create an 'absolute reference', as it is known in Excel terminology), press the F4 key once straight after you have put the cell into the formula.
This will insert $ signs for you in the correct positions, to lock the cell reference, e.g. instead of C4, $C$4.
