Format Painters

Can format painters be used for formulas in thh same way as formatting?

RE: Format Painters

Hi William,

Thank you for your post and welcome to the forum, in reply to your question, No.

However copying formulas is something that Excel does very well, you can use the Fill Handle on a cell (bottom right hand corner) or you can simply copy the cells with formulas in and paste them in a different place, Excel remembers the pattern of the formula and applies it to the new area, known as Relative Addressing.

You can also use the Edit>Copy and then Edit>Paste Special options to ensure All or particular choices are copied, ie just Formats or Values etc.

I hope that has helped, if so please click the resolved link. Regards Pete

Excel tip:

Editing Formulas in Excel Cells

Although people like to edit a formula in the Formula bar, you can also edit a formula in the cell.

To do this select the cell and press "F2". This puts Excel into Edit mode, and you can move around in the cell and make any necessary changes.

Double-clicking the cell also puts Excel in Edit mode.
