How and for what $ is used in formulas ?
RE: Excel Advanced
Hi Artur
Thank you for your question.
The $ sign is used in a formula to create an absolute reference or a mixed reference.
An absolute reference is a reference in a formula that does not change when the formula is moved or copied to another location in your spreadsheet. Example: $E$4.
A mixed reference is a reference in a formula that does not change either the column letter or the row number when the formula is moved or copied to another location in your spreadsheet. Example: $E4 (column E does not change); E$4 (row 4 does not change).
I hope this helps.
Amanda

Excel tip:Customize the toolbar in Excel 2010You can create your own toolbar which contains your favourite or most used tools. This will make using Excel much more efficient. To do this, you need to click on View, then select Customize Quick access Toolbars and then select Customize. A list of tools will then appear on the screen of which you can add or remove them as you please. |
