Freezing a column

Hi there

I was wondering how i would freeze a column in Excel. I often have to do this for reports, you know when one column can't move but the others can move behind it?

Many thanks

Krystle

RE: Freezing a column

Hi David

Thank you for your response although it wasn't that explanatory! Are you saying that i cannot freeze a column because i know someone that has done if for me, i just need to know how to do it myself. Should i send you an example of a spreadsheet i have safed where a column has been frozen?

Many thanks

Krystle

RE: Freezing a column

Hello again

I managed to speak to my colleage in New York that normally does this for me.

To freeze a column you select the column after which you want to freeze. Eg: if you want to freeze column B then you will select column C. Then go to Windows > Freeze panes.

Excel tip:

Generate randon numbers

Some types of analysis require you to use randomly generated numbers. You can also use randomly generated numbers to quickly populate an Excel spreadsheet. There's an easy function you can use to do this automatically. Here are a few of the ways you can use it:

Type =RAND() in a cell to generate a number between 0 and 1.
Type =RAND()*100 to generate a number between 1 and 100.
