Do I need to refresh a whole data set?

RE: Database

Hi Christopher,

Thank you for the forum question and the nice feedback. I am happy, that you found the course useful.

I found a way of refreshing the dataset in Power BI, without you have to refresh the whole dataset.

An incremental refresh will feed in ONLY NEW data in the data set. This is usually a lot quicker than a full refresh as it is not querying data already in the extract. This will not look at any changes in the original data set, it will only load up new rows of data entered into the database.

I found an article which explain it, but you can find many articles if you search for Power BI incremental refresh

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/connect-data/incremental-refresh-overview

I also found a good article about speeding up Power BI
