Changing footer in the slide master
Hi there,
I'm trying to change the footer of our generic slide templates (appr 10 different templates) as they still say '2018', and I would logically expect this to be done in the first slide of the slide master - and then to feed through to all slide master slides within that. However, that doesn't seem to be the case and even when I change it in each slide master slide, it doesn't feed through to the actual slide deck. So my question is: Is there an easy way I can adjust the year in the slide master footers, without having to edit all slides & slide master slides in all templates individually?
Many thanks
Maya
RE: Changing footer in the slide master
Hi Maya
Thanks for your question! It's difficult to say exactly what the problem is without seeing the file but I have a couple of suggestions for you.
First, make sure that your footers are visible on your slides:
- go to the Insert Ribbon
- under Text, click Header and Footer
- tick 'Footer' (and make sure it says 2019)
- click apply to all
If this doesn't work, I'd recommend turning off the footer and adding '2019' manually to the Slide Master (either the Office Theme Slide Master or the individual Slide Master Layouts).
Footers are notoriously fiddly and temperamental in PowerPoint, so especially if you're picking up a file created by someone else it can be very difficult to fix a problem like this. By adding a small text box on the Slide Master where the footer was before, you will get round the problem and easily be able to update the template in the future.
Please let me know if you're still having problems, I know exactly how frustrating to deal with an issue like this in PowerPoint.
Kind Regards,
Sarah
