Project completion calculation

A project one of my colleagues is working on shows a % completion figure of 11%. However, given he is ahead on all current/recent tasks this figure seems incorrect. The project started on 6 April 2017, runs to late January 2019 and is almost 5 months in and on track. By my calculation 5 months of completed work into a 22 month project should show around 20% complete. All the recent and current tasks have been marked as 100% complete.

What might be causing this issue?

I'll be happy to email the plan if required.

RE: Project completion calculation

Hi Jenny

I might need to see the file to see what the problem could be.
Please could you email it to info@microsoft-training.co.uk

thank you
Wendy

RE: Project completion calculation

Hi Jenny

I have received your file, thank you.
Just some questions regarding this.

Has your colleague just marked the task off as 100% complete or has he used the update task function?

If a task has been completed ahead of schedule, you need to use Task > Mark on Track > Update tasks to add an earlier completion date.

I can't see any calculation problems in the file itself so I think the completion tasks may have been completed incorrectly.

Thank you

Kind regards
Wendy
