Visio - Pro 2016 - Templates

Hi,we have recently upgraded to Visio professional 2016 but are unable to access all the templates I saw when doing the training.

To access these templates is a seperate add on required - if so please could you point me in the right direction to get these? Also is there a template for Span of Control?

RE: Visio - Pro 2016 - Templates

Hello Kiera,

Thank you for your question. It's strange that you aren't seeing the same templates that we have. What I could suggest first is to click on all 3 links in the "File - New" window, namely Featured, Personal and Categories. If you still can't see them, there should be a link in this window which will take you to Office.Com where you can download more templates and stencils. If you need specific shapes, you can find shapes by searching the Microsoft Download Center for "Visio shapes.

You can also search online for stencil shapes using the search field above the stencil pane on the left.

Visio doesn't have a specific stencil for Span of Control. The best way to show this is when you create an org chart using the Org Chart wizard and letting it create a separate page for each manager showing their subordinates. Also make use of team frames to indicate spans of control.

Kind regards

Visio tip:

Using the Quick Access Toolbar in Visio 2010

The Quick Access Toolbar is included in virtually every Office product, including Visio 2010 as well as Outlook 2010, Word 2010, Excel 2010, and PowerPoint 2010.

You will find the Quick Access Toolbar in the top-left side of the window. To begin, click the Customize button (it's the little black arrow at the end of the toolbar).

Simply click the commands you want to include.

Virtually any command can be added to the Quick Access Toolbar. Click the More Commands option and a new window will open from where you can browse the commands including those not on the ribbon.
