Repeating Data
Hi,
I am trying to import data from an excel sheet into an accounting software.
These are the rental invoices for the tenants. I have two items per invoice so I have the tenants name repeating in two rows on the excel spread sheet.
Eg:
12 Amherst Road:13/14 Amar Jay Gupta
12 Amherst Road:13/14 Amar Jay Gupta
12 Amherst Road:13/14 Charles Westbury
12 Amherst Road:13/14 Charles Westbury
12 Amherst Road:13/14 Christopher Elms
12 Amherst Road:13/14 Christopher Elms
I want to put in "Invoice numbers" on the next column like
12 Amherst Road:13/14 Amar Jay Gupta 100
12 Amherst Road:13/14 Amar Jay Gupta 100
12 Amherst Road:13/14 Charles Westbury 101
12 Amherst Road:13/14 Charles Westbury 101
12 Amherst Road:13/14 Christopher Elms 102
12 Amherst Road:13/14 Christopher Elms 102
Is there a way to automatically do the numbers rather than typing them in?
Thanks
RE: Repeating Data
Hello Mathanki,
Hope you enjoyed your Microsoft Excel Advanced courses with Best STL.
Thank you for your question regarding repeating data.
There are two things I don't follow:
1) Why you need repeating data?
2) Why you enter so much data into a single cell?
I presume that you do things this way to facilitate the export to your accounting program.
I have attached a file which uses a CONCATENATE function to join the tenant field with the invoice number. But, it does require the entry of the invoice numbers.
Take a look at the sheet and see if this will help.
I hope this resolves your question. If it has, please mark this question as resolved.
If you require further assistance, please reply to this post. Or perhaps you have another Microsoft Office question?
Have a great day.
