Pivot Table field name not valid
Hello
I am trying to create a new pivot table, when I select my table data as the source an error message comes up saying:
"The PivitTable field name is not valid. To create a PivotTable report you must use data that is organised as a list with labeled columns"
It's very frustrating as I can't see what I am doing wrong.
Thanks in advance.

RE: Pivot Table field name not valid
Hello Katy,
Hope you enjoyed your Microsoft Excel Advanced course with Best STL.
Thank you for your question regarding the message you receive when trying to create a PivotTable.
The most common mistake made is to have your main headings immediately above the data headings. If this is so then insert a blank row between the data headings and the main headings/sub-headings.
Make sure that the data headings are not separated from the data with a blank row since Excel cannot automatically select the proper range which includes the data headings. Make sure that no two headings are the same and that there are no blank headings.
There should be no merged and centered cells anywhere within your data range.
Check all these things and apply corrections where necessary.
I hope this resolves your question. If it has, please mark this question as resolved.
If you require further assistance, please reply to this post. Or perhaps you have another Microsoft Office question?
Have a great day.
Regards,
Rodney
