Pivot tables - calculated field totals
I am having a problem with the totals in relation to a calculated field. I am creating a filed by multiplying two fields together. the resultant field created is fine but the total at the bottom of the column is incorrect and I have no idea why.
Any ideas?
RE: Pivot tables - calculated field totals
Hi Hilary
Thanks for getting in touch. This is a common quirk of the PivotTable: the Grand Total is not a total of the fields above, but a further Calculated Field.
Try this: sum all of your first field, then sum all of your second field. Multiply these answers together and you will get what the Grand Total is reporting.
I hope this explains the confusion.
Kind regards
