Default currency settings?

In some established workbooks some data converts into Euros. This has been both previously formatted and unformatted data. When inserting a new worksheet this automatically is formatted as euros. I don't necessarily want to reformat an established worksheet as this will include both dates and values.

Is there a way to stop this from happening?

RE: Default currency settings?

Hi

Thanks for getting in touch. This setting is controlled from two places.

First set the cell style: this is done from the Home tab > Cell Styles > right-click Normal > Modify > Format and set the formatting as required.

This may also be controlled at a Windows level. This will be governed by regional settings and in my experience is locked down by IT. If you have access to Control Panel however you can change the region settings to your locale.

Give it a try and let me know how you get on.

Kind regards

RE: Default currency settings?

Hi,

Thanks for getting back to me. I've checked the control panel and this is set to £.

The issue does not crop up in new spreadsheets, and not all spreadsheets. There are a lot of macros working from a couple of programmes used to extract data / reports from Oracle. Conceivably could this interfere with the currency?

RE: Default currency settings?

Hi Neil

Thanks for your reply. It is possible that the macro includes or pulls across some formatting from the Oracle database.

If that's the case it's probably easier for someone who can edit macros to force £ formatting on to the sheet.

Kind regards
