Sum

please remind me how to use the sum function

RE: sum

Hello Joseph,

The sum function is used to add totals of a range of cells.
If you have figures in cells A1:A4 and need to total these, you can click in cell A5 (where the answer will go) and click the SUM button. Excel will surround the 4 cells above with "marching ants" to show what it intends to sum up. If you agree with it, just press enter key.

I hope this resolves your question. If it has, please mark this question as resolved.

If you require further assistance, please reply to this post. Or perhaps you have another Microsoft Office question?

Have a great day.

RE: sum

There's also another way Joseph.

Here you have a few numbers

20
30
10
40
10
30
30
60
select the cell below them then do Alt+ & hey presto the total will appear.

Excel tip:

The Easiest Way to See a Sum or Average in Excel 2010

Did you know the quickest and most simple way of working out the average or sum of a set of numbers?

Highlight numbers in cells or type some numbers in cells and then look at the status bar at the bottom of the window. Here you will see a display of the average of the numbers, as well as a count of the cells and the sum of these cells.
