Word, footer orientation

We have a document which is landscape but we want the footer page numbers to be portrait - can we change the orientation of the page numbers only?

Thanks

RE: Word, footer orientation

Hello Jonathon,

Could you explain more, I don't understand what you are trying to do. The orientation is how the page is, and has no reflection on headers or footers.

I hope this resolves your question. If it has, please mark this question as resolved.

If you require further assistance, please reply to this post. Or perhaps you have another Microsoft Office question?

Have a great day.

RE: Word, footer orientation

Hello Jonathon,

It's not possible to have the page numbers portrait position on a landscape page, Word does not have any settings or options for this automatically. Although it's not impossible! You could perform this manually by unlinking the landscape page from previous footer, then draw a text box in the location you want the landscape page number. Use the Insert Field, Page number code to place auto number in text box. Finally rotate the text box into position., this could be copied on to other landscape pages.
This can be time consuming, but the page numbers are automatically updated, but is the only way this can be done.

I hope this resolves your question. If it has, please mark this question as resolved.

Word tip:

Change the Print button so it brings up the Print dialogue box

If you want to bring up the Print dialogue box to check your print settings when you hit the Print button, do the following:

1. Right-click on the toolbar that displays the Print button.

2. Select Customise.

3. Click on the Print button on the toolbar to select it, then hold the left mouse button down and drag the button towards the screen below. The button should come off the toolbar.

4. In the Customise dialogue box on your screen, select the Commands tab.

5. Select File from the Categories list, and then locate the Print... icon (looks like the normal Print button, but the word Print has three dots following it).

6. Click on the Print... icon to select it, then use your left mouse to drag and drop the icon onto the toolbar at the top of the screen.

7. Close the Customise dialogue box.
