Resource loading programmes
On a recent project I was running a construction site where we have a core team which we run with for the duration of the project. During periods of high activity, we "borrow" staff from the larger sites nearby to assist in dealing with the high activity. This isn’t always possible as there may be a high level of activities on the other sites during the same periods - so we have to rearrange tasks where possible before we consider hiring in agency staff. Providing early / advance warning of periods where we have high activity to the larger sites, assists them in the forward planning of their resources.
What would the best process be to produce a report which covers the allocation of resources, without getting into the detail of the percentage of time / effort that the staff will put into these tasks as I can generally identify this by the programme? I’m aiming to keep the solution as simple as possible as we regularly have to re-jig the programmes as the order of site works may vary slightly from week to week. I would ideally like to produce a quick print out of resources and which somehow indicates when we require some extra people on site e.g. at the start of the month or following a review of the programme, something I can send to the teams on other sites to keep them up to date with the plan. (MSP 2003 or 2007)
Any solutions to this would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.
Regards
Seamus
RE: resource loading programmes
Hello Seamus,
Thank you for your question regarding reporting on resource allocations.
There is a report called Resource Usage which can be found by opening the Reports dialogue box then choosing this report from the Workload section.
The report shows workload by weeks and can be edited to show Days or Months.
Try it out and see if this does what you need.
I hope this resolves your question. If it has, please mark this question as resolved.
If you require further assistance, please reply to this post. Or perhaps you have another Microsoft Office question?
Have a great day.
Regards,
