Linked Tables
If I test a scriptinvolving a linked table in Access to connect to a test database and then I want to reconfigure the linked table so it points to the live copy of the database, how do I go about doing that?
RE: Linked Tables
Hello Colin,
Without seeing the actual tables it is difficult to understand what you are hoping to achieve.
If you have a relationship between two tables while testing, then to go live, simply remove the link to the test table and re-establish a link to the live table. If you have written a script pointing to a particular table.. change the path in the script to the live table.
If this is not what you are hoping to achieve, then please provide more detailed information.
I hope this resolves your question. If it has, please mark this question as resolved.
If you require further assistance, please reply to this post. Or perhaps you have another Microsoft Office question?
Have a great day.

RE: Linked Tables
Thanks for your answer and I appreciate that it's not particularly easy to follow:
To describe my situation in simplified terms: I have an Oracle database with a few dozen tables in it. I also have a complete copy/clone of this database which I am using for testing. I am developing scripts to move data into these tables. The tables are all connected to access as "linked tables".
When the scripts are fully developed, i need to run the same scripts against the live copy of the database. This needs to be done in a short timeframe so it is not possible to sit down and delete all the tables and relink the same tables in the live database. Besides, this would be highly error-prone.
I had hoped I could just change the details in the file dsn and refresh all the linked tables using the linked table manager but this appears to have no effect.
