Charts in Excel

Hi

I have never been able to find a solution to this problem, searching the net and asking others has yeilded no results - but I thought it was worth one more try ...

When you create bar/column charts in Excel, is there any way to control the text labels? When you just have a single word they are fine, but the problem arises if you have a short sentence. Excel takes control and determines the proportion of the chart area that is taken up by the text and why you can adjust the plot area it doesnt let you adjust the label area.

Slightly diffiicult to explain in words but I hope that makes sense. I'm not refering to the alignment or size of the text.

Thanks

Anthony

RE: Charts in Excel

Hi Anthony

As you say the plot area of a chart can be altered but not the axis label area. Perhaps send an example of when it becomes a problem? Also please could you let us know the version of Excel.

Thanks

Doug

Excel tip:

Line breaks in a cell

You can control the line breaks for multiple-line headings or labels in your Microsoft Excel worksheet, just like you do in Microsoft Word. Here's how to do it.

Click the cell where you want the label or heading to appear.
Type the first line of information.
Press ALT+ENTER.
