VLOOKUP to transfer data

How do I use VLOOKUP to transfer data from one workbook to another?

RE: VLOOKUP

Hi Julie,

Thank you for your question and welcome the forum.

Use Insert and then function to bring up the function dialogue box. You will find the function in the lookup and reference category.

The first argument is the cell that contains the lookup value. The second argument is the range of cells in the other workbook you are trying to retrieve the data from. The third argument is the column number from the data set for the desired field value to be returned.

I hope this answers your question.

Excel tip:

Using Excel's MODE function

Use Excel's MODE function to display the most common value present in a particular range of cells.

The Mode function looks like this:

=MODE(cell range)

As an example, if 35 is the most commonly recurring number in a particular cell range, then the function will display 35.
