Putting new tasks in at today's date

If I add a new task to my project it automatically goes in as the date the project began unless I then go and change the dates for it or link it to another task in the project. How do I make it so that when I add a new task it first goes into the system as today's date?

RE: putting new tasks in at today's date

Hello Rosie,

Hope you enjoyed your Microsoft Project Introduction course with Best STL.

Thank you for your question regarding the start date of new tasks. This is easy to setup, so, first click on Tools menu, then Options. Select the Schedule tab and set the option for New Tasks to 'Start on Current Date'.

I hope this resolves your question. If it has, please mark this question as resolved.

If you require further assistance, please reply to this post. Or perhaps you have another Microsoft Office question?

Have a great day.
Regards,
