Microsoft Project
If I wish to enter new tasks in sections of a file already set-up by someone else, because a project manager now wants extra tasks or wants greater detail, will Project automatically make the necessary links with the existing tasks?
RE: Microsoft Project
Hi Mark
Thank you for your question and welcome to the Forum.
By default MS Project has a setting switched on that tries to auto link inserted tasks. Generally this is not very helpful as the links created are not based on the task logic but always default to Finish to Start. The setting can be turned off by going to Tools > Options > Schedule and removing the tick from Auto link inserted or moved tasks.
Generally it's more reliable to manually link inserted tasks to make sure they follow the logic you require rather than a default Finish to Start.
I hope this helps - do let us know if you have any further questions.
Kind regards,
Andrew
RE: Microsoft Project
Morning Andrew
I just wanted to say that the 2 day MS Project course I attended this week was excellent and the best IT training course I have attended.
I will certainly be putting my newly acquired skills into practice later this week!
Many thanks
Kind regards
Mark
