Thank you for your question and welcome to the forum.
A style is simply a group of formats (e.g. font, font size, font colour, shading, alignment) that have been saved under a name.
The idea is that you can then apply the style to a cell or cells in the spreadsheet to apply the various formats that are part of the style all at the same time.
It also ensures consistency as the same formatting is applied each time the style is used.
