How do I create a document contents page (referencing back to headings within the document?)

RE: Contents Page

Hi Nicola,
Thank you for your question:
In reply; Setting a contents page based on headings you would follow these steps.
1. Menu command Insert>Reference>Index and Tables
2. From the dialog box choose Table of Contents tab
3. In the General area choose style and levels to be indexed
4. Choose Tab leader if required and show and align page numbers tick boxes
5. Click OK
I hope that has helped... Pete

Word tip:

Controlling the appearance of the Styles task pane

Do you find it confusing when all the manual formatting changes you make to text in your document keep getting listed in your styles task pane?

You can change the settings in Word to stop this from happening.

1. Go to Tools - Options.
2. Select the Edit tab.
3. Remove the tick from the check box next to the 'Keep track of formatting' option.

Now the styles task pane should only list styles that are being used or are available for use in your documents.
