Macro buttons
Hi
How do you edit/delete a button on a worksheet, with an assigned macro, that cannot be selected with right click? The sheet is not password protected.
Furthermore, how can you track back which macro is operated by a certain button on a worksheet, if the names are unclear? It does not seem to do the same functions as any of the macros in the master list!
Thanks
Tom
RE: Macro buttons
Dear Tom
Thank you for attending Excel Advanced course!! I hope you enjoyed the course and benefited from it.
To delete a button on the Quick Access Toolbar you simply have to right click on the icon and choose Remove from the Quick Access Toolbar. This should work for any buttons on the Quick Access Toolbar. If for any reason you cannot right click and remove then you can right click on the Quick Access Toolbar and then choose Customize Quick Access Toolbar. In the customise window simply double click on the button on the Right hand side and that should remove the macro button from the Quick Access Toolbar.
If you wish to edit the Macro button then you need to have some knowledge of VBA coding. In order to get to VBA window for that macro follow these steps:
Open the file that contains the macro.
Choose the developer Tab on the ribbon. (If you don't see the developer tab then simply choose the Office button and then choose Excel Option next to Exit Excel button.)
Click on the Macros Button.
In the Macro dialog box choose the macro that you wish to edit
Click on the edit button.
Note: To modify the macro depends on your pervious or current experience and knowledge of VBA.
To rename the macro to more relevant name you can follow these steps:
Right-click on the Quick Access Toolbar
Choose Customise Quick Access Toolbar
In the dialog Box choose the macro and on the bottom click the modify... button
In the Display name you can type in any relevant name that that you wish.
Press OK and then press OK to close the Excel Options dialog box.
I hope this has answered your query.
If this has answered your query then I would request you to please mark the question as resolved!! If not and you have a specific question related to this then please post it as a new question and we should be able to provide you the solution for it!!
Kindest Regards
