RE: Excel

Dear Amanda
The data I will be working on is a 24 months data, each month's data is on separate sheet. I will have one sheet for the report which will show data pertaining to two months i.e. Jul 08 and Jul 07. I need dropdown list for dates cells, one to show last year's date and the other shows this year's dates, and most importantly they are both linked together for example when I choose Jul 08, the other date cell will show same month from last year i.e Jul 07 on this example. So the idea is when I choose Jul 08, other date cell will show Jul 07 and data area will show July 08 and Jun 07 data.
Kind regards
Kabashi

RE: Excel

Hi Kabashi

Thank you for explaining what it is that you would like to achieve.

This is something that you could probably do using VBA coding. As this would require a detailed answer we are unable to provide assistance on this by posting a reply however I have two suggestions:

1. We offer a 2 day Excel VBA course which will provide you with an understanding of how VBA coding can be used to perform complex tasks in Excel. For further information including course dates and pricing, please see https://www.stl-training.co.uk/excel-course-in-london-2003-vba.php

2. We can offer consultancy services either onsite (at your location) or off-site to provide a solution for you. Consultancy normally starts at

RE: Excel

Dear Amanda

During our Excel course, our instructor told us that we would be given twelve month support on any of the MS Office programs, and we believed this. Now you are telling me that you are unable to help me with my query and I have to take a VBA course after which I will be able to help myself answer my query. I find this appalling and inconsiderate as it seems you are using the technical support as an advertisement tool. The excuse you are citing is not good enough.

I need to understand how we have been told that we are given twelve month support on any of MS Office product and when I raised a question about an element that I already had training on; your answer is you have to have VBA Training.

Have a nice day.

Clarification

Just to clarify this:

The after-course support is supposed to be focused on the training you have received. We do sometimes allow questions on other software applications to slip through if the queries are brief and therefore do not entail hours or days of research.

Knowing VBA is different to an advanced knowledge of Excel. Our VBA course is two days long, which hopefully should give you an indication as how much more knowledge is required. To answer your question would not entail a simple paragraph reply in the forum.

We have a forum acceptable usage policy, and you can find this by logging in to your delegate account, or on the forum home page.

I think most people would agree it is unreasonable to expect someone to spend hours or days answering all questions you have relating to a software product for free!

We welcome your comments and thoughts on this, and look forward to answering your questions related to the Excel Advanced training you attended.

Regards, Rich

Excel tip:

Using Excel's MODE function

Use Excel's MODE function to display the most common value present in a particular range of cells.

The Mode function looks like this:

=MODE(cell range)

As an example, if 35 is the most commonly recurring number in a particular cell range, then the function will display 35.
