Inserting a excel chart with a link
how do you insert a excel chart with a link to the spreadsheet it has been produced in?
RE: Inserting a excel chart with a link
Morning Thibault,
Once you have copied you chart from excel and gone into powerpoint, go to Edit / Paste Special / and choose the paste link option on the right of the box. Once you click ok this will then link to your spreadsheet.
You don't have to have both files open for this to work as well. If you work in Excel then the next time you open the presentation it will ask if you want to update the links. If your in powerpoint and want to go to the excel file then you can double click it, and it will open up the file even if excel is not open.
If you get any problems with links not updating then you can go to Edit / Links and choose from several options, if changes need to be made.
Hope this helps
Martin
RE: Inserting a excel chart with a link
Hi Thibault,
Once you have copied your chart and gone into Powerpoint, go to Edit / Paste Special / choose paste link on the right of the box. Once you have done this any changes made in excel will automatically change in powerpoint if both files are open. If the presentation is not open then the next time you open it, it will ask you if you want to update it. If you need to make changes to the link or it does not automatically update, then go to Edit / links.
Handy tip to know is that in your presentation if you double click you linked chart it will open it up even if excel is not open.
Hope this helps
Martin
