How do I freeze Panes?

Edited on Thu 24 Apr 2008, 07:10

RE: Excel

Hello Sam, welcome to the forum, I hope you enjoyed your course, in answer to your question;
Freezing panes, When you work with large worksheets, it can be annoying as you scroll right or down to no longer be able to see the headings (row or column) Freeze Panes allows you to fix the headings so that you can see them no matter how far to the right or down you scroll.
First you must decide which area of the worksheet you wish to Freeze, the cell to select must be directly under or to the right of the frozen area/s (you can freeze both above and to the right of a chosen cell at the same time)
Once you have decided on which cell, select it, and then go to the Menu command Window>Freeze Panes.
You will notice a thin black border either to the right of and/or below your frozen area/s, scrolling to the right or down will now keep your Frozen areas on screen.
Related to Freeze Panes is Split Screen which allows you to view up to 4 related areas of your worksheet, check it out too.
I hope that has helped, if so please click the Resolved link, best regards Pete.
