Excel Charts
When you have created a chart as a separate sheet it seems impossible to go back to edit the chart without the aid of a mouse.
RE: Excel Charts
Hi Terry, Thank you for the post, in answer to your question here are a few keyboard commands which might be of use to you:

CTRL + Page Up, Selects the previous sheet in the workbook
Down Arrow, Selects the previous group of elements in a chart
Up Arrow, Selects the next group of elements in a chart
Right Arrow, Selects the next element within a group
Left Arrow, Selects the previous element within a group

RE: Excel Charts
Pete,
Pete,
I am aware of all the keystrikes quoted but I think you will find that Non of the keystokes allow you get at the chart on a separate sheet once you have pressed escape twice. Even puting icons on the Quick Access Toolbar these are greyed because the chart is not selected.

RE: Excel Charts
Hi Terry,
OK thanks for that, didnt catch the bit where you said you had pressed escape twice or wouldnt have launched into all the keyboard commands, answer to your original problem then, - sorry, dont know how to do it without the mouse, regards Pete
RE: Excel Charts
Dear Terry
Thank you for your question!
I assume that you are using Excel 2007 and if I am correct in thinking then you want to select various parts of a chart e.g. legend, series, Chart Area, Plot Area, etc... without the use of the mouse.
If this is the nature of your query then please follow these guidelines:
I hope you are aware that in Excel 2007 instead of remembering the short cut keys you can use the Access Keys.
All you have to do is press the ALT button which will display the letters on the Ribbon and Numbers on the Quick Access Toolbar.
If you have already created the chart in a separate sheet then you should be able to see a contextualized tab called Charts Tools. You'll notice it has three Tabs i.e. Design , Layout and Format under the Charts Tools.
If you want to select various parts of the Charts simply Press ALT button and then when the Access Keys appear type JA to select the layout Tab.
Type E to select the Chart Elements Box
Once you have the cursor blinking you can use the Down arrow on the keyboard to select other parts of the chart.
If you want to modify parts of the charts then you can continue to use the ALT Key and choose the key combinations to modify the chart.
I hope this helps. If it has helped in resolving your query then please mark the post as Resolved
Many thanks
Kindest Regards

RE: Excel Charts
Rajeev,
You are missing the point when a chart is created on a separate sheet you are unable to to access it without using the mouse and then everything you say above applies but this is not possible when you start the workbook and go to the chart it does not even provide you with the chart tools these only appear when you click the chart with the mouse.
RE: Excel Charts
Hi Terry,
If you are using Excel 2002 or later, follow these steps:
1. Make sure the Drawing toolbar is displayed.
2. Press F10 or the Alt key to activate the menu bar. (The File menu will be selected.)
3. Repeatedly press Ctrl+Tab or Ctrl+Shift+Tab (as necessary) until the Drawing toolbar is selected.
4. Repeatedly press the arrow keys until the Select Objects tool (the one that looks like a mouse pointer) is selected.
5. Press Ctrl+Enter. Excel selects the first object in the worksheet, which in all likelihood is your chart object.
6. Press Alt+O to display the Format menu.
7. Use the arrow keys to select the Object option from the menu and press Enter. Excel displays the Format Object dialog box.
8. Use the Tab key and arrow keys to adjust the various size options in the dialog box.
9. Press Enter to accept your changes and close the dialog box.
10. Press Esc to de-activate the Select Objects tool on the Drawing toolbar and return to the worksheet.

For Excel 2007, I have searched everywhere for a shortcut, but cannot locate one. If this is the version you are enquiring about, perhaps asking Microsoft for an answer, as they would have accessibility responsibilities.

RE: Excel Charts
Rich,
When you have created a chart on a separate sheet and then reopen the Workbook you are unable to either get the Drawing Tools or the Chart tools. Unless you get these up none of the suggested methods work.
Pressing Escape twice on the selected chart has the same effect as reopening the workbook.
