Gantt chart dates when going into a new calendar year

I am retrospectively setting up a project plan which started in November 07. It won't end until the end of Aug 08. Although the task pane is correctly showing that tasks start in 08, the Gantt Chart goes from Dec 07 to Jan 07 (it changes to April 08 after March 07). Why is this happening?

RE: gantt chart dates when going into a new calendar year

Hi Sally

Thanks for your question

On the face of it this is rather puzzling. It could be a problem with your installation of project, or it may be something else that is not immediately obvious. It is difficult to judge without seeing the question

Can I suggest you email a copy of it to

stephenATmicrosofttrainingDOTnet

and I will have a look at it and get back to you

Regards

Stephen

MS Project tip:

Avoid Accidental Constraints

The initial default table is the Entry table. Enter a task name and duration, but do not enter start or finish dates. Form the plan using links, predecessors. Typing dates introduces constraints. To remove these constraints, double click on a task, and on the Advanced page of Task Information set the constraint back to As Soon As Possible (all other options are there too.)
