How do you control text wrapping where graphics are inserted?

RE: Word

Hello Amy,
I hope you enjoyed your Excel training with us.

Thank you for your question. Text wrapping in Word can seem a bit tricky, but hopefully the tips below will make it seem more manageable.

To get started, add your picture to the document. Do not worry about the location of it, because you will be able to move it, once you have set the type of text wrapping you want to use.

Next, click on the image, and go to the Format menu, then "Picture." This will open a dialog box. Click on the layout tab. You'll see five different possible layouts.

- "In Line with Text" will treat your image like another character within your text.
- "Square" will place your graphic in the middle of text and have the text wrap around all sides of it.
- "Tight" is similar to "Square" but the text lines up closer to the image.
- "Behind Text" or "In Front of Text" will allow the text to go through the image.

You then also have the option for all of the layouts except for "In Line with Text" to choose whether the image should be Left, Centre, or Right on the page. If you choose "Other" you can drag the image anywhere on the page, and the text layout will follow.

I hope this resolves your question. If it has, please mark this question as resolved. If you require further assistance, please reply to this post. And please feel free to ask any other questions you may have.

Have a great day.

Regards,
Mara

Excel tip:

Autonumber in Excel

To create an autonumber field, can use the Offset() function.

In cell A1, enter the number 1.
Then in cell A2, enter this formula:

=OFFSET(A2,-1,0)+1

Then copy the formula from cell A2, down as far as you need.
