Uploading to internet
how do we actually upload to the intenet do we have to have someone to host a website externally?
RE: uploading to Internet
Julie,
To access you website, there are a number of options:
1) For public access from anywhere in the world you will need purchase web hosting, you can then upload all your files to the web.
2) Your company may have its own web server, in which case you may be able to use this to host your site.
3) If you are just creating a site for the people within your company, you could run it as an intranet site. This means the site is run on your companies server and can only be accessed whilst connected to the company computer network.
Hope this helps
David
RE: uploading to Internet
Julie,
There are also a number of 'free' web hosts out there, but they usually put advertising on your page due to the.... freeness.
That could be an option for you to experiment with, and then perhaps later you might want to pay for better quality hosting.
One free host is bravenet at http://www.bravenet.com/

Dreamweaver tip:Xhtml vs htmlWhen using dreamwear template or just creating a blank webpage, you are able to select the markup language you want to use. The main choices are either xhtml or html. It is now best to select xhtml as this will translate all the html into xml, so it is transmitted across the web in xml format. One of the main advantages of this is that it makes the site that you build much more compatible with the range of different web browsers that exist. |
