How can you link charts?

RE: Excel

Dear Amy

Thank you for attending Excel Introduction course.

When you say you want to link the charts I would assume that you are thinking of linking them in other programs such as Word or PowerPoint.

Please note that in Excel when you create charts from the selected data they are linked automatically which means that when you change the data from where the chart is coming from the chart updates itself.

If you, however, decide to link the chart to an existing Word document then please follow these steps:

Step 1. Select the Chart created in MS Excel
Step 2. Right-Click and choose Copy. (you can use the keyboard shortcut CTRL+C if you like )
Step 3. Open MS Word and the document you wish to have the linked chart into.
Step 4. Place your cursor where you want the chart to be placed.
Step 5. Choose [b]Edit > Paste Special

Excel tip:

Highlighting a data range

Attempting to use a mouse to highlight a large range of cells with data in Excel can make the mouse to have a life of it's own!

Use keyboard strokes instead.

Step 1. Place the cusor in the cell where the highlighting should begin.

Step 2. Select keystroke, CTRL+SHIFT+END

This will take the cursor to the furthermost bottom corner of the data range found in that worksheet. And highlight that range of cells at the same time
