Page Setup

How do I fit my spreadsheet over 3 pages in stead of just one.

RE: Page Setup

Dear Merline

Thank you for attending our Excel Course.

I understand that you might be trying to fit a one page spreadsheet in to three by using the scaling option in Page setup.

I agree that it is a bit misleading. The scaling option works in a particular manner. If you have few pages and trying to fit them in more pages then Scaling option in Page setup will not work. This is particularly useful if you have more pages and trying to fit them in fewer pages. The best example is when you have four pages of data and there are only three-four columns or rows in the last page.

Please note by scaling you are compromising with the size of your data.

If you want to fit one page worksheet in three pages then you have to select the Columns or rows and insert a manual page break. Please remember that the new page break gets inserted on the left of the selected column and top of the selected row.

If you want to see the instant effect of the page breaks then it is suggested that perform the manual page breaks in Page Break Preview. You can access the Page break Preview by choosing View > Page Break Preview.

I hope this helps

Excel tip:

Naming and Using Constants

Constants make calculations easier so worksheets are more easily understood. Constant values also need to be given relevant and memorably names. It is also easier to change the value of a constant.

For example:
Instead of entering 17.5% in each cell when you generate a VAT amount you could name a Constant "VAT" and assigning a "0.175" value to it. To do this:

From the 'Insert' menu select 'Name', then select 'Define'.

Enter the constant
