How do I add a different format for the date?

RE: Excel2007

Hi Leanne,

Thanks for your question.

If you wish to customise & come up with your own date format, you need to switch on FORMAT CELLs (CTRL + 1)

  • 1 - In Format Cells dialogue box, select Number
  • 2 - Select last category: CUSTOM
  • 3 - Use the combination of 3 letters: D M Y to represent Day, Month and Year
  • DDDD shows full spelling of day: monday
  • DDD shows first 3 letters: mon
  • DD shows 2 digits of day: 08
  • D shows only 1 digit for days before 10th: 8

similarly for Y and M

You may combine them with symbols like: / - '
e.g. for format Fri 07-Dec '07
type in: DDD DD-MMM 'YY
