Macros and Pivot Tables
Can a macro be recorded which will construct and format a Pivot Table, if so how can this be accomplished?
RE: Macros and Pivot Tables
Answer to the Question:
A Macro is a recording of All Key strokes and Mouse clicks, as such it will faithfully record your actions, and on command play them back. Macros are used to complete mundane and repetitive tasks accurately and without fuss.
If you require to create a Pivot table to Analyse or Summarise your database on a regular basis, recording your actions will allow you to replay them whenever you require.
Open the workbook in which you will be working, ensure you are on the worksheet with your list or database, choose the menu command Tools, Macro, Record New Macro, this will open a dialog box where you can set up your Macro; ie Name, any Keyboard shortcut, and some explanatory text. Once you click OK you are recording, be aware of Absolute and Relative Settings. When you have completed your actions, click the Stop Recording button and you Macro is ready to run.
