How do I plot the average mean values
RE: charts
Hi Gladstone, Thanks for the post, For this task you could use Excels Moving Average Add In. Follow these steps;
1. To use the Moving Average Add-In you must have the Analysis ToolPak installed and active. If you've already done this skip to step 3. Otherwise choose Tools,Add-Ins
2. Select the Analysis ToolPak option and click OK
3. Once the Analysis ToolPak is active, you can begin the actual Moving Average procedure.
4. Choose Tools, Data Analysis,
5. Select Moving Average and click OK
6. In the Input Range Box, type or use your mouse to point to the location of the existing data. (select the range)
7. In the Interval box, type the number of periods you want used for your moving average (if you want a 3-month moving average; type 3.
8. In the Output Range box, type or point to where you want the moving average to appear, then click OK
9, Excel displays your moving average at the specified location. (you might want to format the cells for easier reading)
Note for periods where there is not enough data to compute the moving average Excel will display #N/A (not available).
Hopefully that will help you, regards Pete

Excel tip:Fill formulae across a sheetTo copy a formula down a spreadsheet where there is data underneath, to the left or to the right of the formula, double-click on the fill handle. The fill handle is the little black cross that appears in the bottom right-hand corner of the formula cell. Unfortunately, no similar facility exists to copy formulae across the sheet. |
