Link a task to an end date

Hi there,

I have a project which has a number of tasks. One of the tasks will take 7 days and I want to make it start 7 days prior to the end of the project.

Where I make changes to other tasks in the project the end date moves, hence the need to create a link between the aformentioned task and the finish date.

Look forward to your assistance.

Regards,
Mike.

Mike

we cover this on our project intro, I suggest you ring the office and maybe book a course at one of our special rates.

RE: Link a task to an end date

Hi David,

I have already attended the basic and intermediate courses at Best training earlier this year. I have reviewed the information I was given at the course but am unable to identify what I need to do.

Hope you can help.

Regards,
Mike.

Mike

Sorry but you was flagged up as attending "NO COURSES".!!!!

You may want to get this rectified...

Have you tried using a "Must start on constraint? for the task in question?

RE: Link a task to an end date

Can you advise how I get this changed?

I will check out that setting you mention, thanks.

RE: Link a task to an end date

email - info@stl-training.co.uk - say the dates you attended the course and where, and if you can remember, add the trainer, tell info how it appears on the forum posts.

let me know how it goes...

MS Project tip:

Typing Links Between Tasks

In the Entry table, use the Precessors column to type in links. Type the previous task's ID to link. To change the link, add FS (Finish-Start), FF (Finish-Finish), and so on, and + duration to add a Lag, or - duration for a Lead time. Example: for task 5, 4FS+1w ... task 4 preceeds task 5, finish to start, with a week lag between.
