RE: how to input a date in a cell
Hi Kiara,
Hope you enjoyed your Excel Intermediate training course yesterday. We're here to help with any follow up questions. By posting a question, you now have access for 12 months.
To insert 'today's' date into an excel cell, you can use the shortcut key Control+Semi-colon (;)
Other ways are to just type a date eg. 10/10/2007 and press Enter. Excel will automatically change the cell format to be date.
A tip I learnt a few years ago was that you can just type in the day/month, and Excel assumes you are talking about the current year. Try it!
If you have typed a date in, but it's not showing in Excel properly, make sure the cell is wide enough (if you're seeing #####'s) and check the cell format (Format -> Cells...) is set to date.
With cell format, you can change the date to show all sorts of date formats, such as day of the week of the date etc.
Hope this all helps.
Regards, Rich
