Filtering

Is their a maximum number of rows that Excel will accept for a filter? I have less than 1200 rows and yet the Filter will not display in the drop down any more than about 1150. I have tried turning the filter off and then on again to no avail. Suggestions welcomed.

RE: Filtering

Hi Bowen,

Thanks for the question.

In answer to your question there is a limit of 1000 unique entries when using the AutoFilter. Your AutoFilter will function correctly if you have more that 1000 unique entries in your data list column, but you'll have to use a Custom selection or use an Advanced Filter with a criteria setting.

RE: Filtering

Thanks Tracy. I'll have to study up on Advanced Filtering and Custom selections.

Excel tip:

Change the Value of a Constant

When using a named constant in a worksheet, you may wish to change the value of that constant.

From the 'Insert' menu, select 'Name', then select 'Define'.

In the 'Define Name' dialog box, select the constant that you want to change.
Change the value in the 'Refers To' box.
Click OK.

Wherever that named constant has been used it will now use its new value.
