Pivot Tables

Can you set up excel so that it always defaults to classicial view of pivot tables?

RE: Pivot Tables

Hi Alhagie,

Thank you for the forum question.

Here’s how you can set Excel to always default to the classic view for PivotTables:

Open Excel and go to the File tab.
Select Options to open the Excel Options dialog box.
In the Excel Options dialog box, go to the Data tab.
Click on the Edit Default Layout button.
In the Edit Default Layout dialog box, click on PivotTable Options.
Under the Display tab, check the box for Classic PivotTable Layout (enables dragging of fields in the grid).
Click OK to save your settings.
This will set the classic layout as the default for all new PivotTables you create.

For any existing PivotTables, you can change them to the classic layout by right-clicking on the PivotTable, selecting PivotTable Options, and then checking the Classic PivotTable Layout option under the Display tab.
