Excel - Changing the row header and column header to show the ac

Hey all - after some Pivot table know how please!

Is there an easy way to change the row header and column header to show the actual variable name instead of Row Label and Column Label? I am aware you can just overwrite them by double clicking where it says Row/column label, delete and write your variable name, however I was hoping I there was an easier way - we have some very long variable names and a large number of pivot tables!

Get back to me when you can, thanks!

Hi Adam,

Thank you for your question to the forum.

You can set a variable label in a pivot table by selecting the pivot table and going to the DESIGN tab > REPORT LAYOUT > SHOW IN OUTLINE FORM

Once applied any other row/column headers used in the pivot table will be displayed dynamically

Hope this has helped. Please let me know if it has.

Kind regards

Excel tip:

Display pictures on Chart Data Point

Replacing a single chart data point bar with a picture.
Step 1: Left click on a bar. Then, wait, and do a second single click on the bar. This will select just one data point.

Step 2: Right click on the bar and select Format Data Point.

Step 3: On the fill effects tab, choose a picture. Browse for a picture for that bar. Indicate if you want it to be stretched or stacked. Repeat for each bar.
