Locking conditional formatting

Hi, I have created a worksheet with conditional formatting where certain cells would be coloured when a choice is made from a drop-down list.
As this worksheet is for everyone to use and enter in information, I was wondering if I can lock the conditional formatting so it doesn't get changed.

RE: Locking conditional formatting

Hello Mona,

Thank you for your question.

One way to protect your conditional formatting rules is to lock the cells that contain them. To do this, first select the entire worksheet, right-click and select 'Format Cells'. Go to the 'Protection' tab and un-select 'Locked'.

Next, select the cells that you want to protect, right-click, and choose 'Format Cells'. In the 'Format Cells' dialog box, go to the "Protection" tab and select 'Locked'. Then, click "OK" to close the dialog box.

Next, go to the "Review" tab and click "Protect Sheet." In the Protect Sheet dialog box, make sure that the 'Select unlocked cells' option is checked, and enter a password if you want to prevent others from unprotecting the sheet. Click "OK" to protect the sheet.

I hope this answers your question.

Kind regards
