Month order on chart

HI sorry i know this should be really straightforward but I cant figure out the best way to get my data in the correct order. I am assessing a data period of 01/09/2022 - 31/08/2023. When I drag my data into the chart it changes the order so it runs from January to December but i need it to go September - august. Sometimes it does do it from September to august but I cant figure out why. All answers online are different.

RE: Month order on chart

Hi Faye,

Thank you for the forum question.

I assume that you have a date table in the data model.

If you just have data from the period 01/09/2022 - 31/08/2023 your visuals should only show you the period 01/09/2022 - 31/08/2023.

If you have data in the model outside the period you want to display, select the visual and use the filter pane to tell Power BI which period you want to display.

If the visual display January to January even you only have data for the period 01/09/2022 - 31/08/2023 you have an issue with your date format.

Create Interactive Dashboards

Build interactive dashboards by leveraging features like slicers, drill-through, and bookmarks. Slicers allow users to filter data dynamically, while drill-through enables detailed exploration of specific data points. Bookmarks help you save the current view, making it easy to switch between different states of your report.
