Unable to Set Up Gateway Connection to Excel File on Sharepoint

I have never got data from an excel file on sharepoint before. I got data from "Web" and entered URL. It did not ask for credentials but I added mine. I have admin access to the excel file on sharepoint. The data came through on the Desktop version of Power BI and I could refresh the data however when I published the report to the Web the Gateway connection failed. It gave me an option to "add to gateway" but when I tried to create a new connections I got this error message. What am I doing wrong please?

Unable to create connection for the following reason: Invalid connection credentials.

Details:

******-datagateway-01: The credentials provided for the Web source are invalid. (Source at https://*******.xlsx.)

RE: Unable to Set Up Gateway Connection to Excel File on Sharepo

Hi Anne,

Thank you for the forum question.

Just to make sure that you have connected to the Excel file correct. The link below shows you have we should connect to SharePoint:

The error you got indicate that there is something wrong with the connection, but I find it strange that you can access the data in Power BI desktop but you get the problem when you publish.

I have searched for answers on Google and found a few things you can try to troubleshoot to resolve the issue:

Check the credentials (try re-entering the credentials to ensure they are accurate)

Verify Gateway configuration (You may need to review the Gateway settings and ensure that it is set up correctly)

Check network and firewall settings ( Ensure that there are no network or firewall restrictions preventing the connection between Power BI and SharePoint)

Review Power BI service limitations (Check if there are any limitations or restrictions in the Power BI service that may be causing the issue. Sometimes, certain features or connections may not be supported in the Web version)

Kind regards
