Extending drop-down lists
I’m trying to extend drop-down options down columns on a spreadsheet but am afraid I will erase existing data if I do so. The drop-down list only goes to a certain row before you have to input the data yourself. Do you know how to extend the drop-down list?
RE: Extending drop-down lists
Hi Rudi,
Thank you for the forum question.
I assume that Data validation is used for the dropdown list.
If you are afraid of erasing the data, I will suggest that you first try this in a copy of the file.
If you use the table tool you will never need to extend the range.
Select the whole column, where you want to use the dropdown list. Go to the Data tab in Excel, click Datavalidation in the Data tools group and extend the range.
Kind regards
