Export report to pdf from public report
I need to find a way of exporting/printing to pdf or excel or csv or ppt from a 'published to web' public report.
Is there anyway in which this can be done, I've looked around for an answer but it doesn't look good and I really need this feature otherwise Power BI might not be the right solution for us.

Does Api help?

And do we need a premium account?
RE: Export report to pdf from public report
Hi Martin,
To answer your question we need to know more about the 'Publish to Web' public report that you want to export as a PDF or ppt file. If your report started out as a published file to your Power BI Service (from Power BI desktop) then you should just be able to export directly from the Service - see this link for more details:
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/consumer/end-user-pdf
If you share this report with others within your organisation, they too will be able to export as above. Sharing of published reports can only be done with a Pro licence.
If you did not personally publish the report to the Power BI service, then you will need permission to be able to share and then export the file.
I hope this helps to resolve your issue.
Kind regards
Martin
RE: Export report to pdf from public report
Hi Martin,
I do have a Pro licence and it was published to the online service from desktop. From the online service I obtained the html embed code to make available to users without having to sign in to the online service.
It's from that page that I want to offer save/export as pdf/ppt etc.
RE: Export report to pdf from public report
Hi,
Is there any further response to this? Sorry but I'm eager to find a solution.
RE: Export report to pdf from public report
Hi Martin,
I am sorry but it is not a part of Power Bi we have experienced.
I have done some research and could find this link.
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/developer/embedded/export-to
I hope this link can help you in the right direction.
Kind regards

RE: Export report to pdf from public report
Hi Jens,
Thanks, we'll investigate this API route and see if it helps. Will mark this as closed.
RE: Export report to pdf from public report
Hi Jens,
We looked into the API route but it only works with Premium or embedded capacity. Premium is £5K a month and embedded is also expensive, detailed here: https://support.shortpoint.com/support/solutions/articles/1000264504-creating-power-bi-embedded-capacity-in-azure #:~:text=Power%20BI%20Embedded%20is%20a,capacity%20as%20per%20your%20needs
It's a great shame that a simple basic export as file is not available on publicly shared reports as it is on the online logged in service.
If there are any alternatives or cheaper solutions that you learn about I would really like to know.
Thanks.

Power BI tip:Implement Row-Level Security (RLS)If your reports contain sensitive information, implement Row-Level Security to control access to data at the row level. RLS allows you to define rules that restrict data access based on user roles, ensuring that each user sees only the relevant data according to their permissions. |
