Viewing 2timelines

Is it possible to view 2 MS Project timelines on different screens for comparison purposes - as in XL?

RE: Viewing 2timelines

Hello Alyson,

Thank you for your question. While you unfortunately can't have two Project windows on separate screens, you can view two projects side by side on one screen by opening both projects, then clicking View - Arrange All.

Let's hope that Microsoft will change this in future!

Kind regards

RE: Viewing 2timelines

Hi Marius
Pls can you advise where "Arrange All" button is from "View"

RE: Viewing 2timelines

Hi Alyson,

Sorry that I wasn't clear in my reply. You click on the View tab at the top (next to Help), then look for the Window group (right-hand side of the ribbon). In the Window group, the Arrange All button looks like two boxes, one on top of the other.

I hope this helps.

Kind regards
Marius

Tasks not updating when dates of predecessor Change

Hi - I'm having an ongoing issue with Tasks not automatically updating when the date changes for the predecessor task.
Pls can you ping me on email when you're free to discuss.

TIA

RE: Tasks not updating when dates of predecessor Change

Hi Alyson,

The issue with tasks not updating when predecessor dates change, sounds like your Project is set to Manual Scheduling instead of Auto Scheduling. Please check this setting at the bottom left of the Project window, where it might be saying "New Tasks: Manually Scheduled".

If this is the case, simply click there to change the setting to Auto Scheduled. This is only for new tasks.

To change existing tasks to Auto Scheduled, please select all tasks in the project by clicking on the empty square directly above the top task's ID number. Then, in the Task ribbon, in the Tasks group, click on Auto Schedule. This will change all existing tasks to Auto Scheduled.

If these steps don't resolve the issue, please ping me on the forum again and we can take it from there.

Kind regards
Marius

MS Project tip:

Typing Links Between Tasks

In the Entry table, use the Precessors column to type in links. Type the previous task's ID to link. To change the link, add FS (Finish-Start), FF (Finish-Finish), and so on, and + duration to add a Lag, or - duration for a Lead time. Example: for task 5, 4FS+1w ... task 4 preceeds task 5, finish to start, with a week lag between.
