Programme Progress

Hi,

I want to be able to use conditional formatting to look at the progress of a project.

I have the start date of the project and also the end date.
I would like to be able to graphically see the progress?

Thanks

Dave

RE: Programme Progress

Hi Dave

Thanks for your question.

Conditional Formatting:
Using the 'Use a formula to determine which cells to format' feature you could create a formula that would change the colour of cells if they were a certain number of days near/over the project end date.

IMPORTANT: ALL formulas used for conditional formatting MUST return a TRUE or FALSE answer.

e.g.

TODAY() >= Project End Date

if the above statement is TRUE change colour to RED

As regards viewing the progress graphically it would be difficult to answer without knowing the structure of the data being used to create the chart. We would need more details.

Regards

Dennis

RE: Programme Progress

Thanks Dennis,

How best can I let you know the structure? In simple terms I have a dynamic table that has separate columns for;

Start date
End date.

I also have separate columns that have been conditionally formatted to show a bar for month since start and months in construction.

RE: Programme Progress

Hi Dave

If you email a copy to the office info@stl-training.co.uk marked for my attention they will forward it and I'll be able to point you in the right direction.

Please ensure that the file complies with Data Protection regulations prior to sending over.

Dennis

RE: Programme Progress

Thanks I think I resolved it myself by having 2 additional columns;
Months in Construction
Months since start of work

Take one from the other via a sum and it tells me how many months until the end/ start.

RE: Programme Progress

Great to hear that.

If you have any further questions please feel free to post again.

Excel tip:

Shortcut for deleting all comments in a spreadsheet

If you have entered multiple comments into a spreadsheet and wish to delete them all at once, you can achieve this by:

1. Holding down Ctrl, then Shift, then O - this will select all cells containing comments in the worksheet you are looking at.

2. Right-clicking on one of the selected cells, and selecting Delete Comment from the menu that appears.

3. Clicking anywhere else in the spreadsheet to deselect comments - all comments should have disappeared from the spreadsheet.
